STRUCTURAL INSPECTION STATION


Astra Motors is licensed by the Ministry of Transportation (MTO) as a
​Motor Vehicle Structural Safety Inspection Station for
the Province
​of Ontario.

If a vehicle has been branded through the Ministry of Transportation Mandatory Branding program, it is required to have a vehicle structural safety Inspection performed in order to certify that the vehicle is road worthy for the province of Ontario.

For a vehicle branded as "Salvage" below are the listed criteria required to perform a structural inspection and have it re-branded to "Rebuilt"


​1. Name and address of person who rebuilt the “salvage” status vehicle.
2. Name and address of the present vehicle owner if different from the vehicle rebuilder (Copy of Registration).
3. Name and address of insurer or self-insurer of the vehicle who paid out the claim for the“salvage” vehicle or the name and address of the person who declared the vehicle a total loss.
4. A list, and copy of the invoices for the major components used in rebuilding the vehicle, if the parts were used the vehicle identification number of the donor vehicle is required.
5. The estimate of repairs is required from the original person who declared the vehicle a total loss.
6. Two colour photographs showing the front, rear and sides of the “salvage” vehicle, taken prior to rebuilding.
7. One colour photograph of the “salvage” vehicle taken on a frame/unibody alignment bench.
8. If the wheel alignment is inspected at a premise other than your Structural Inspection Station,a written statement and print out of the wheel alignment must show it meets the manufacturer’s standards, including the VIN of the vehicle and the name, address and signature of the person making the statement and a copy of the specifications for the vehicle. This statement must also contain his/her trades certification number, and must be done in the Province of Ontario.



For an out of province vehicle branded as "Rebuilt" below are the listed criteria required to perform a structural inspection and have it re-branded to Ontario "Rebuilt"​

1. Name and address of person who rebuilt the “salvage” status vehicle.
2. Name and address of the present vehicle owner if different from the vehicle rebuilder (Copy of Registration).
3. One colour photograph of the “salvage” vehicle taken on a frame/unibody alignment bench.
4. If the wheel alignment is inspected at a premise other than your Structural Inspection Station,a written statement and print out of the wheel alignment must show it meets the manufacturer’s standards, including the VIN of the vehicle and the name, address and signature of the person making the statement and a copy of the specifications for the vehicle. This statement must also contain his/her trades certification number, and must be done in the Province of Ontario.
